Divison, the warmth that I couldn’t keep and the cold that I can’t

stand. This work talks about division, two intertwined worlds created

through migration.

The most important symbol of every Iranian’s life is Iranian motifs.

Iranian motifs are a sign of my whole life as an Iranian, which inspires

warmth for me, the warmth of my mother’s arms, home, and homeland,

and I grew up with them. So I decided to create a new style,

inspired by different Iranian carpets. I designed and painted new

motifs. The role of metal is my second life after immigration, the

coldness that I always feel away from my homeland and family. So I

chose this material to induce a feeling of cold.

I created a circle in the centre of the work to show all my memories

of the homeland, which are always with me forever, but from the

window of the plane when I left the homeland. The images that

passed before my eyes when I left the country. Persian calligraphy

on the four sides of the motifs represents the native language.

The subtitle of the video is a famous poem by the famous Iranian

poet Sohrab Sepehri, the meaning of which gives me hope for life,

that I can understand that in this cold post-immigration, life flows

wherever we are.
