Becky Mac is an Artist and Dancer, who uses multiple mediums and processes to explore ‘alternative’ depictions of the body and form.
Beginning her journey mainly in Painting, Becky has always been interested in Portraiture, and is especially keen on realism. However, more recently whilst studying her degree in Fine Art, she has found enjoyment in having a constant push and pull of processes within her work, branching into other mediums in order to experiment with different translations of the human form.
With additional influence from her Dance and performative roots, shape, movement and bodily expression have also become key themes within her more recent work. Through experimentation with her own body, still and in motion, Becky is currently exploring the generation of ambiguous and illusional forms, presenting and manipulating the body through techniques of photography and video. As a process led artist, she aims to take you through a sequence of steps, both in her movement and in the creation of her work. The communication and journey between pieces is evident and relentless, key to her exploration of the body in a state of constant transformation.
Straying from her initial ideal of perfection within her artwork, as a Dancer, and in the presentation of the body, has allowed her to explore the potential in other process, as well as her own physical self as a valuable artistic material.
