Revitalizing Academia: Biophilic Interventions for Wellbeing
In my work I acknowledge the positive effects of frequent interaction with nature on the psychological wellbeing of others. I seek to make spaces for individuals to consciously or unconsciously heal in the process of using and interacting with them.
Recent work has been developed through interviews with staff and students at Birmingham School of Art that explore the concept of Biophilia and propose intervention of elements and principles of biophilic designs in university campuses. Furthermore, the lived experience of Birmingham School of Art is taken as a case study, to understand the interior spaces in relation to nature elements and their effect on people using them.
The annual Degree Show is a highly anticipated event amongst staff, students, external partners and friends of the School of Art – it provides a platform for the work that the students have spent so long conceiving and producing.
