Oneself identification through social personality, fashion, religion and culture, digital prints, 2021
I am a British Pakistani women who has admired the concept of art growing up through Primary and Secondary school. Whilst studying in Higher education I’ve learnt I’ve always have had a passion for creativity surrounding diversity and being yourself. Since adolescence, I have always had a fascination with art and the concept of creating on the go. I am always looking for an opportunity to convey my emotions and feelings through art work. I specialise in a range of different types of media, with my most favourable being painting. Aside from this I also dabble in photography and digital art.
Painting for me is an expressive form of creativity that helps express how I feel. Talking about current worldly affairs that relate to me and my artwork. I want you to understand and let it speak to you.
My work, primarily focuses on my self portraits and what my identity means to me and others around me. How it feels to know when you don’t belong. I want my portraits to showcase what my fashion sense, hijab and culture represent about me. Furthermore, I also look at therapeutic art such as creating physical and digital paintings of colours that calm and help me relax when I feel anxiety or this awkwardness of being out of place, not being comfortable.
