My work is mainly focused around photography, as I have had an interest in keeping records of memories with photographs for a long time. In addition to this my work utilises collage which I explore digitally through Photoshop. I was particularly motivated to create more experiments when I had unexpected outcomes and unanticipated results.

The meanings behind why I have chosen to use these types of media for my work is that I wanted to be able to portray how young women frequently cover their faces in social media imagery and due to this, I have decided to keep the links to both the technological context and the use of digital photographic processes. I also used collage to present that there are multiple ways to cover the face and conceal ones identity and while exploring with collage it have proved to be a creative approach to experiment alongside photography. 

Originally, I took photographs around my home and outside as a way to portray a way of living indoors and outdoors and comparing the two. Moreover, I asked friends to send me digital selfies with selected objects from around their home that they felt described their personality. This aimed to portray how identity can be shown through interior design. Recent themes that I have developed are around concealed identity, domestic spaces, religion and culture.

I am especially interested in the impacts of identity and the history of religion and culture on my work. Some of my individual pieces that bring my practice together are related to visual, storytelling, religion, culture and perhaps art as activism? The collage work of John Stezaker has been a significant influence during this year.In a way, my work is a way to try and raise awareness regarding how women try to conceal their identity sometimes because of the pressures of societyor their religion. As a young South Asian woman, I am guided to explore the issues of women being told to do and what not to do as both generational and societal burdens.
