Statement:
I am an experiential artist and environmental activist. My work explores the blending of physical and virtual environments, working both with space and without. Using Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and physical immersive installation to explore the need for an embodied experience. My work focuses on topics of sustainability and climate change while exploring the enhancements in immersive technology. Through Advena (2021), displayed at the W London in Leicester Square, I have opened up some inescapable and provocative questions, supporting my future practice:
How does the location of an art installation affect how it is perceived?
How important is the role of influencers and social media in modern art experiences and their commodity in relation to art practices?
What is the art world missing in terms of priming VR experiences? (Offsite Projects, 2021)
My recent projects Conniveo (2020) and Terra Firma (2019) have been exhibited and screened at: Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; ThinkTank, Birmingham; Bermondsey Art Centre, London; World Food Federation, London; Stryx, Birmingham; United Nations Oceans Week with the Explorer’s Club, New York; Aesthetica Short Film Festival, York (2020); the Coventry Biennial, Coventry; and Orleans House Gallery, Richmond (2019).
I was an artist in residence with The Immersive Kind and selected for the Hotel Generation programme with Arebyte Gallery in 2020. I was commissioned by BBC Arts and Arts Council England for their New Creative scheme with Rural Media in 2020 and shortlisted for the Sustainability First Art Prize.
