A doll in the corner, neglected and forgotten. Much like how textured hair can be forgotten by people who don’t have hair like that. This can have an affect on a persons identity and how they see themselves growing up with people disregarding or trying to change your hair.

My project is about hair, more specifically relaxed hair when growing up and how that can change the way a person may see their hair. Using the colours of the hair relaxer I used to have on me (orange, pinks and green) I was able to crochet a life sized doll. The doll is sitting in a criss-cross sitting position and the ground in the corner of the room. I wanted to show how hair identity can be left out and pushed a side and may lead to feeling for having it disregarded from people. Having the sound spoken in different ways was to show the different emotions hair can cause.
