Andreea Pîslaru (b.1998) is a Romanian artist based in West Midlands, United Kingdom. She is currently a BA Fine Art student, in her final year at Birmingham School of Art. Her current practice explores the human body as a language and a tool in art in relation to themes such as objectification, sexuality, and abjection. Prioritising the process of making, she works across a range of forms including painting, performance, installation, photography, collage and video. Her methods can be described as intimate, abstract art, having a preoccupation with the female body. She’s interested in challenging the barrier between private and public, between artist and artwork. Andreea is also a Co-Founder of Round Lemon art collective, which she currently runs with three other artists.
Post-Distance
Post-Distance is a crucial display of work by final year, graduating BA (Hons)Fine Art students. It represents their commitment and ingenuity, a testament to their resilience at the end of a difficult year. Working across different media and contexts, this exhibition highlights what is possible, how limitations need not restrict and how it is always a good time to be artist.
