Yuan Wang (Tony) is a Chinese artist whose work is informed by his personal experiences of cultural transition and reflection on the societal issues that shape our world. Having received his compulsory education in China, Tony went on to study A-level education in the UK before pursuing a degree in pure art at Birmingham City University. It was during this time that his perspectives began to shift, as he grappled with the complexities of international politics and the fragility of democratic ideals. Tony’s art is a reflection of his ongoing search for answers and his commitment to exploring the uncertain and insecure terrain of the human experience.

As an undergraduate student at Birmingham City University Birmingham School of Art, Tony is constantly challenging himself to push the boundaries of his artistic practice. Through his work, he seeks to bridge the cultural divide between China and the UK, while also shining a light on the universal themes that connect us all. Whether through his use of color, form, or multimedia elements, Tony’s art invites viewers to engage with the complexities of the human condition and to join him on his journey of self-discovery and exploration.
