‘The Amazing Scientist’
My project explores the inequalities that female scientists face in a heavily male dominated sphere, as they attempt to garner success in their field. It is a declaration of their heroism, and their ability to rise above the struggles that women face in patriarchal structures. It draws on comic book visuals and ideas as a way of reinforcing that women have the capability to exist successfully within a sphere that favours and celebrates the successes of men. The title is a play on the popular comic book ‘The Amazing Spiderman’.
The annual Degree Show is a highly anticipated event amongst staff, students, external partners and friends of the School of Art – it provides a platform for the work that the students have spent so long conceiving and producing.
