Within her practice, Inés collects aged magazines like Stitchcraft and Jackie and transforms them into contemporary collages. Her experience of working with GCSE students made her consider the restrictions of state taught, curriculum-based art education. Recent works have a strong connection with the art education system and a desire to un-learn channelled methods. Through her practice Inés explores the artistic possibilities of childlike play and domestic spaces, using her own domestic environment and unconventional spaces in the studio as sites of unlearning which are investigated through institutive, organic making.
Post-Distance
Post-Distance is a crucial display of work by final year, graduating BA (Hons)Fine Art students. It represents their commitment and ingenuity, a testament to their resilience at the end of a difficult year. Working across different media and contexts, this exhibition highlights what is possible, how limitations need not restrict and how it is always a good time to be artist.
