Clelia is an Italian artist, potter, and educator based in the UK, who is focused on arts education, materiality, and making. A trainee Montessori Teacher; her practice explores clay, embossed with found objects, which she ritualistically collects by walking around her neighbourhood.
The tactile experience of manipulating clay is fundamental to her practice; the textures and patterns that are left from the objects onto the clay allow her to transform those forgotten or unseen into something everlasting and indestructible.
Clelia also teaches pottery specific courses at the community pottery, both for children and adults, allowing them to explore clay by supporting and guiding them between different techniques and methodologies.
The annual Degree Show is a highly anticipated event amongst staff, students, external partners and friends of the School of Art – it provides a platform for the work that the students have spent so long conceiving and producing.
