Threads Of Remembrance:
A Keffiyeh Scarf
This video installation embarks on a deeply personal exploration of childhood memories intricately woven into the fabric of the artist’s grandfather’s scarf, Keffiyeh. Through the lens of this simple yet profound textile relic, a narrative of the love, care, and affection gained from family is shown. This visual journey seeks to untangle the emotions, stories, and resonances embedded in its fibres.
Inspired by the artist’s recollections of her grandfather’s cherished accessory, the installation aims at delicately capturing the essence of childhood memories through the simple yet evocative image of a waving scarf, chosen with care, that depicts tales of warmth, protection, and the embrace of familial love. The blurry and ghostly effect evoke the passing of time, reflecting the fleeting nature of childhood moments. The scarf gently swaying on the body, unfolds the unhurried moments of childhood with the remembered moments of a sound of an old celling fan.
