My practice currently explores the idea of how objects can hold memories, inspired by my nan who had dementia. In my work, I’ve hada strong focus on domesticated objectsand theimportance they have in our lives, which we tend to take for granted or simply ignore.I’ve changed the muscle memory of the objects by altering the texture, scale, colour, and weight of them so the shape of the object itself becomes themost recognisable factor. I hope that when the audience views my work, they are reminded of memories they have of their own domestic objects or just realise the importance that they have on our day-to-day lives. My practice can be described as multidisciplinary as I’ve only more recently realised that artists don’t have to be tied down to a handful of mediums and that art can be made from anything–something many artists, including myself, has proved to be true.
