Ashley’s work is a personal study into the meanings of ‘self’ and ‘place’ and how the the legacy of colonialism is still widespread adding to the Caribbean diaspora that echoes in our search for a home and an identity. Her workis an exploration into understanding how her Diaspora has affected the way she views her personal and cultural identity in the spaces she occupies. Ashley’s practice revolves around examining the difficulties of finding a balance of the transcultural relationship between a distant homeland and your current place.
